The plate roll of the gravure printing machine is usually in direct contact with the image printing material, so before the plate roller comes out of the ink tank, it must be scraped off the surface of the roller before it comes into contact with the printing material, and then pressed by the embossing roller. The capillary action of the printing material transfers the ink in the recessed holes to the substrate. The gravure printing machine is mostly a roller type printing machine, which continuously prints using a reel.
Gravure inks are generally solvent based. There is a trend to use water-based inks, but the process using solvent inks runs much faster than aqueous inks because the evaporation of the solvent facilitates the drying of the ink. Generally, the printing color used in the gravure printing process is 8-10 colors higher than that of the concave printing. The printing process generally includes the printing material, the plate roller, the embossing roller, the ink system, the ink viscosity control, the solvent recovery system, the drying furnace, and the online cutting.
